Our department was formed in December, 1972. Our members respond to fire calls, car accidents, medical assistance calls, and anywhere else we're needed. We average 80-90 calls a year. Indian Creek township is ~40 square miles, and is home to around 1100 households.

In the picture above you can see our trucks. Left to right are:

Brush 5 - 1992 Ford F250 brush truck - We use this truck for brush/field/woods fires. It is also second out on car accidents and medical responses.

Truck 1 - 1979 4X4 Chevy minipumper - We use this truck for car accidents, medical responses, and brush fires.

Tanker 4 - 1973 International tanker - 1600 gallons, 6" rear dump, 2500 gallon dump tank.

Tanker 2 - On July 18, 1998 we became the proud owners of a 1975 International/Carmar tanker - 350gpm Darley PTO pump, 1900 gallons of water. We bought it from Walker Township Fire Department in beautiful Hublersburg, Pennsylvania.

Engine 3 - 1996 International pumper - 1000gpm Hale pump, 1500 gallons of water, manufactured by E-One Fire Apparatus.

Our department uses RELM SMV4099 radios from Communications Electronics and MaxRad antennas.

Update: RELM Communications, obviously suffering a major brain fart, has discontinued their line of feature-filled and economical radios. RELM has purchased Bendix-King and now sells B-K instead of their own brand. The RELM SMV4099 radios were $350. The Bendix-King radios are $1100+. Our new radio of choice is the Maxon 4150. Thanks RELM!!!

Update 2005: RELM is now making their own brand of mobile and portable radios again, and they are better than ever. We have been purchasing most of our pagers and radios from Falcon Wireless.

We purchase almost all of our fire equipment from Heiman Fire Equipment, Chief Supply, Darley, and The Fire Store.

American Communications Systems is a great place to buy radio supplies, especially older, hard-to-find parts.
